This Week So Far

We had Monday as a holiday. I learned that the official name of the holiday is apparently “Washington’s Birthday” and not President’s Day.

I went to the casino at Finger Lakes Race Track. Broke even in two hours at the video lottery terminals. Yeah… It seems that the New York State constitution forbids all gambling but lotteries. So the slots are officially video lottery terminals.

The casino is operated by the state, through its quasi public corporations, as is all horse racing in New York. Lots of machines, and the first 2 cent slots I’ve ever seen.

The machines take bills only, and print out a scannable ticket for your results. There is a player’s card but you don’t put money on it. It serves to track your activity and you accumulate points which may be useful for something.

The lovely wife had laser surgery on her right eye this morning. Far less painful that the last one, which was done by another MD [duck noise] [duck noise] [duck noise] [duck noise] . Her stress was through the roof, and she slept off and on after coming home. Discomfort and pain was a lot less than last time but still made her such a lovely person to be around. She wouldn’t take anything.

Back to work tomorrow.

Ugh. Anything pointed at my eyes would have me sweating bullets. Hope the Mrs. is better of mind and body soon.
