The Lovely Wife’s Condition
Best guess right now: Enzymes seem to indicate a heart attack in the last two weeks or so. In female diabetics the symptoms can be atypical or event absent. Her heart is pumping at 25% of normal. She’s on meds to lower her very high blood pressure and remove fluid, and they have made a noticable improvement through this morning. She is in congestive heart failure.
She has agreed to a heart catheterization tomorrow. She gets to eat today, and lose more fluid. If she cannot lay on her back tomorrow without the coughing, the procedure will be postphoned. If they find blockages, they will implant stents. If the blockages are too bad, they won’t and we’ll be talking about bypass surgery.
The doctor in charge of the Heart Failure program is Eugene Storozynsky M.D., Ph.D. He is one of the best doctors I have ever talked with, with a bedside manner that ought to be copied by every other M.D. on the planet.
