Good Eating for Veterans Day 2010
More and more places seem to be embracing the notion that our serving military and veterans deserve something free on Veterans Day. For 2010, the following have come to our attention: Hooters – Veterans eat free on November 11. No participating Hooters in New York State. Outback Steakhouse – “As an expression of Outback Steakhouse’s appreciation to our Country’s veterans and active duty military*, a free Bloomin’ Onion and Beverage (one non-alcoholic drink) will be available to them at every Outback in the country on Veterans Day.” Rochester area and New York State locations are participating. Applebees – “Available during business hours on November 11, 2010 at participating Applebee’s only. Dine-in from limited menu only. Beverages and gratuity not included. Military veterans come in all shapes and sizes. While the majority of America’s veterans are male, there are hundreds of thousands of women proud to wear the title “veteran”. We would like to honor some of the military women we have featured here over the years. Female Chaplains Serve God and Country Four female ministers – an Episcopalian, a Unitarian Universalist, a Southern Baptist and an African Methodist Episcopal – all join the military ….
