United States Swine Flu – H1N1 Update May 14 2009
Case numbers increased significantly from yesterday, an additional 946. CDC reports 4,298 cases of swine flu, H1N1, in the United States. Only four states have no reported cases, Alaska, Mississippi, West Virginia and Wyoming. The curious mix of case locations continues. The twelve states in the Midwest have 35% of the total U.S. cases (1,522) while the four states that border Mexico have 32% (1,394). Those numbers are not reflective of a region-wide outbreak, since New Mexico reports 51 cases while the other three border states have over 400 each. In the Midwest, the cases are primarily limited to Illinois-620, Wisconsin-510 and Michigan-141. The other states in the Midwest have only 251 cases between them. Five states have reported 57% of the swine flu, H1N1 cases, Illinois, Wisconsin, California, Texas and Arizona. … Read entire article »

May 23rd, 2009 | 2 Comments
Who is going to ask the correct questions about the swine flu / novel H1N1 epidemic? The old media doesn’t seem to be. Why are the numbers of cases in Illinois and Wisconsin so high? Why are those cases primarily in Chicago / Cook County and in Milwaukee? Why are many states and the CDC not reporting totals on their websites on the weekend? Why have a small number of states such as Florida stopped reporting cases on their webistes? As of the CDC numbers on May 22, Texas had the most cases. Its site published new numbers that do not appear in the CDC report. The difference is over 400 new cases. Why is Texas next updating its numbers on Wednesday, May 27, and not sooner? As of the CDC numbers on May 22, California … Read entire article »
