Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy

Navy Junior ROTC cadets from Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy are acknowledged by their family and loved ones at Copernicus Foundation Theater. The cadets were part of the first graduating class from Rickover, a naval academy where all the students are Navy Junior ROTC members. The Navy Junior ROTC program, overseen by Naval Service Training Command, headquartered at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., instills in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.  Navy Junior ROTC Cadet Cmdr. Jaqueline Duarte, valedictorian for the first graduating class from Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy, is embraced by Eleanore Rickover, widow of Adm. Hyman G. Rickover, during her high school graduation commencement speech at the Copernicus Foundation Theater. Rickover was known as "the father of the nuclear navy," for his work on nuclear propulsion. The Navy Junior ROTC program, overseen by Naval Service Training Command, headquartered at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., instills in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.
