Medal of Honor posthumously DoD The Department of Defense announced Oct. 2, 2006 the death of a Sailor who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor, 25, of Garden Grove, Calif., died Sept. 29 while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Ramadi, Iraq.
