Here’s my article about Vero cells and how they are improving vaccine production. I am currently part of a clinical phase three trial using influenza vaccine produced with Vero cells. March 27, 1962. It doesn’t sound like a remarkable date in history. Millions of people alive today and billions of people yet to be born share that date as a second birthday. If the work of Y. Yasumura and Y. Kawakita at Chiba University in Japan on that date had not been done, those people would not have a life to live. He was an ordinary adult African Green Monkey.
