Suicide vest attack kills 40, wounds 65 in Karbalah
According to initial reports from the Karbala Operations Center, a suicide-vest bomber attacked innocent Iraqi civilians in Karbala killing 40 and wounding 65 at approximately 6:00 pm today [March 17 2008].
The attack took place on a busy street that heads toward the Imam Hussayn shrine just before evening prayer services.
Karbala police at the site established security and currently have the situation under control. The identity of the attacker has not been confirmed.
Iraqi Security Forces are continuing to investigate the incident.
