I always remember seeing a piece of news footage on Channel 4 (UK)showing a member of the British Special Forces standing with a huge machine gun firing over the ramparts at Mazar-i-Sharif, seemingly oblivious to anything but his mission. American troops came along and tapped him on his shoulder as if to say, 'come on we need to go' as a helicopter hovered overhead. He just kept firing. The other soldiers just seemed in awe at what he was doing. He is a true hero and a fantastic advertisement that the British Special Forces are the best in the world. I was so sorry to see his obituary in the Telegraph and wish his unit and family all the best for the future. Men like him make me proud to be British.

As one of five other trainees on the same paramotor flying course as Paul, it was a privilege to have met him.

My father was an Air Commando in the USAF, and was in the USAAF in WW II. I am familiar with the breed: Men of honor who do their duty without respect to their own well being. Stupifyingly, they have no qualms about it, while us grandstanders wince in utter disbelief. Shame they don't mint more MEN like that these days. Tics me off, it does. I'm NOT one of those MEN, for the record. I'm just one of the musicians they keep free to do my Lord's calling.

God Bless "Scruff" McGough. There would be no "Western Civilization" without him and his bretheren.

Personally, I love 'em. We'll celebrate our ultimate victory in the hereafter.
