Saving Grace

Saving Grace is the fantastic new show from TNT. It features Holly Hunter as a very sexy, very tough Oklahoma City detective who is offered a last chance at redemption. Think of it as a very adult Joan of Arcadia. A Joan that drinks, cusses and is a wildcat in bed.

Her last chance angel is Earl, a tobacco chewing, curmudgeon of an angel. The part is played to perfection by Leon Rippy who you will recognize from his many television appearances.

Also delighting is a surprise, Laura San Giacomo, who plays Grace’s best friend and is a CSI scientist with a great deal of faith.

Weakest so far is Kenny Johnson. who plays Grace’s partner and lover Ham. He’s eye candy for the ladies, but in a talented group of actors has some stepping up to do.

Grace is on the road to perdition, drinking heavily, sleeping with a married man who is also her partner, and with a host of family troubles. Can she find salvation, through the little faith she still has? Earl is there to help, sometimes, and act as her conscience at others.

Set aside your Monday nights at 10 p.m. EDT for a few weeks. This is a don’t miss show.
