Repairs Complete on Power Lines
Workers from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity completed major repairs on electrical lines near Taji, Iraq Sept. 13 which are a critical part of the Iraqi national power grid, supplying power to Taji, Diyala and Baghdad.
Last month, electricians and other MOE personnel began their work on the power lines, which were downed by Al Qaeda operatives during an attack in July.
The workers spent their time on the site patching the power lines and repairing large electrical towers that had been knocked down after an Al Qaeda bombing near the site.
“The MOE engineers began work without any help from Coalition Forces, proving their ability solve major infrastructure problems without outside assistance,†said Capt. Nathaniel Davis, brigade engineer for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. “This major undertaking and their ability to complete it on their own shows clearly that the government of Iraq can work for its citizens in a highly efficient manner to provide critical support where they are needed.â€
