After leaving Durham-Durham, the Soldiers come under attack when one of their Humvees breaks down. Staff Sgt. Sefo Talia calls out orders to his team during the engagement.

Sgt. Joseph Peer treats an Afghan soldier who was shot by the Taliban during the engagement.

After pinpointing the Taliban’s position, Staff Sgt. Jason Geranen fires an AT4 rocket at them.

Sgt. Kirk Brutosky and Staff Sgt. Jason Geranen fire at the extremists.

Soldiers hook a towbar up to the disabled Humvee as another Soldier fires at the extremists. Bullets zinging through the air lend a sense of urgency to this unplanned “pit-stop.”

An AH-64 Apache helicopter shoots Hellfire missiles at the Taliban fighting positions. Soldiers appreciate close-combat air support.

The Taliban position is obliterated thanks to the air-ground teamwork. The Soldiers can now move on to their next objective and get the needed repairs for their Humvee.
