Not On THE STINGY LIST

OK, this is an illustration of why I’ve been very conservative with the numbers on THE STINGY LIST, linked at left:

The American Red Cross, in Washington, has raised roughly 40 percent of all contributions, more than $410.3-million. More than $174-million of that total has come in since the organization announced on January 26 that it was no longer actively soliciting funds.

Catholic Relief Services, in Baltimore, has received $111.5-million for its relief and rebuilding efforts, while the U.S. Fund for Unicef, in New York, has collected $92.4-million. [snip]

Save the Children, in Westport, Conn., has received $54.5-million.

World Vision USA, in Federal Way, Wash., has received donations totaling $52.1-million.

Americares, in Stamford, Conn., has raised more than $35-million.

Chronicle of Philanthropy

There’s more at the link, and I have used a few of the numbers. Most of the millions, though, are probably covered by other donations listed in THE STINGY LIST. So, I skip over the major charities when I see their numbers. However, I am certain that there is enough money in the numbers shown that would qualify for my listing if I could obtain a break down in some detail. I think we’re well over $1 billion in giving, perhaps near $1.1 billion.

I’m going to try to do some reporting and see if I can obtain details. Yeah, I really want to have my list break a billion. The LIST will be updated on this site tomorrow, but I can say that the total is so very close…
