To Sargeant Barnes' family I send my sincere condolences. Throughout this struggle that faces our generation and the world, people like you make me proud to be an American. May God bless you all and reward your exemplary life in the hereafter.

Thank you, Sgt., more than you can know.

It now is left to the rest of us, who have been spared the hell of combat, to display the courage and commitment that fulfills Sgt. Barnes' down payment on our freedom and preservation as a nation.

God speed. May you read these words of praise in the great blog in the sky.

"Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh."

Rest easy Sgt Barnes.

It is the dreadful sacrifice of good men whose moral compass points true north that will win any war. His family knows the quality of man they sent to war, and should know the great sacrifice that not only they but we lay upon the altar of freedom.
The men who served with him know the character of who they lost, but we civilians who rest easy because of such hard and honorable men as he will remember and thank him through time for the courage he showed.
Pride is not a vice when it is well-earned, and it surely seems that his compatriots and family should reflect on him and his service with well-deserving pride.

The eloquence of Sgt. Phillips is a testament to the good man Sgt. Barnes evidently was.

May we all be worthy of such high regard for what we accomplish in our lives. Living up to their example is to my mind the best way to honor the greatest among us.

I pray for the amelioration of his parents’ grief.

Thank You, Sergeant Barnes.

We can ill-afford the loss of such as you. I pray to be worthy of your sacrifice.

Thank You to All Who Serve. I will never forget what you've accomplished.

Hey, 10th Mountain Man:

Rest easy, trooper. Keep your hatchet scoured and your powder dry, and we will see you at the next rally point!

Go with God.
