Marburg: WHO Gets Arount to It

The large increase in the number of reported cases for Uige is the result of retrospective investigation and entry into the database of cases that occurred previously. However, new confirmed cases and deaths continue to be reported in Uige.

WHO

Take a look at the data and charts at my Marburg site.

Since the disease was identified, an average of 4.7 new cases a day and 4.1 deaths per day has happened. The latest leap represents an average of about 1 more case per day, 5.5 in the period. There was a family cluster of twelve mentioned in the news, and that would more than account for the difference.

To repeat myself, this disease is not out of control, running rampant, or growing seriously. The fact that WHO is generating spikes by reevaluating past cases is the primary indicator that new cases are diminishing in number.
