Large Cache in Baghdad’s Ameriya District

Multi-National Corps – Iraq

A large weapons cache was discovered in the Ameriya district of the Iraqi capital Feb. 24.

Elements of 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, working in conjunction with 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army, conducted a search in Ameriya and discovered the largest weapons cache to date in that area.

This cache was found in a school near the Al Fridas Mosque.

The search, conducted in the early morning hours, uncovered a cache consisting of 17 improvised rocket propelled grenades, 10 Kutusa rockets, five 60mm mortars, 13 81mm mortars, one 81mm mortar tube and two 60mm mortar tubes.
