Cost of putting PV on my house: $30,000.
Monthly electric bill (in MD): $200
Payback time: 12.5 years (IF we don't buy any electricity from SMECO, which is not possible)
Realistic payback time: 25 years (IF nothing breaks or needs maintenance)
Most realistic payback time: Never

It is heartwarming to read that the coalition forces are proposing to the Iraqis to build a reusable energy system with a combination wind turbine power plant and solar panels to support Iraqi border fort outpost around the country. If they could support the expert's recommendations to go Solar and wind for a reliable energy. This should definitely encourage the home owners to go solar as well. It is realiable and cost effective. Moreover, the free energy source is renewable.
