Fifth Fleet Denies Bahrain Media Reports
There are inaccurate reports in the media that the U.S. Navy is departing Bahrain.
We have a longstanding relationship with Bahrain. We are not evacuating our personnel or families, and are maintaining normal operations.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense has approved an Authorized Departure for Dependents and some DoD civilians. This departure is entirely voluntary and a decision each individual or family should consider. We have a Joint Relocation Center on base to answer any questions or assist personnel who wish to depart.
We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and advise our personnel to avoid demonstration areas and contact their chain of command or supervisor with any questions or concerns.
