Rochester Police officers early today arrested three city men after they found a loaded weapon in their van.

Officers Eric Weigel and Thomas Shaw stopped a van driven by Ashton Spalding, 19, of Rochester, after Spalding was allegedly driving on Monroe Avenue in Rochester while blaring the vehicle horn excessively, said Sgt. Hoang Kavanaugh of the Rochester Police Department. The officers stopped the van Spalding was driving, because “excessive honking” violated the law, he said.

Officers then searched the vehicle after they determined that Spalding was allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle without a valid driver’s license. They found a .38-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds under the rear row of seats in the van, Kavanaugh said.
