Eric Fair in Another Place
While searching out the bona fides of Eric Fair, the civilian interrogator who had the Washington Post op-ed piece in the last week, I stumbled across this.

Eric FAIRIm Haftbefehl der Staatsanwaltschaft München I finden sich zu
jedem Namen mehrere weitere Schreibweisen. Bei diesen Namen handelt
es sich nach NDR Recherchen weitgehend um Tarnnamen. Darüberhinaus
sind den Ermittlern nach “Panorama”-Recherchen jedoch auch mehrere
Klarnamen bekannt.Bei den 13 nun per Haftbefehl Gesuchten handelt es sich nach
Recherchen des ARD-Politmagazins “Panorama” um Mitarbeiter der CIA.
Die meisten von ihnen wohnen im US-Bundesstaat North Carolina. Drei
von ihnen hatte “Panorama” schon im September 2006 mit den Vorwürfen
konfrontiert, die Verdächtigen hatten aber jede Stellungnahme
verweigert.
It is a press report from Germany, naming the CIA agents that were indicted in a rendition case. While the story maintains that all the names are fake, curiously one of the names is Eric Fair.
The NY Times describes the case thusly:
Prosecutors in Munich said the suspects, whom they did not identify, were part of a C.I.A. “abduction team†that seized the man, Khaled el-Masri, in Macedonia in late 2003 and flew him to Afghanistan. He was imprisoned there for five months, during which, he said, he was shackled, beaten and interrogated about alleged ties to Al Qaeda, before being released without charges.
How likely is it that Eric Fair is a pseudonym? If so, whose? Because a commenter in my earlier piece claims to have knowlege of Fair being at Interrogation School for the military, suggesting that there is an Eric Fair that is an interrogator and could be the person who wrote the Post piece. OTOH, those involved in a rendition are unlikely to have used their real names, yet there is one “Eric Fair”.
