Deep Thinking
I did some prep work in the bathroom, and painted some of the new drywall with primer this morning. Mailed a box to Ashely and Tasha in Kuwait. Quick errand to the store. After lunch I went over to the ambulance base to ounge for a while, call it respite care for me. Covered one call so all is good there.
Thoughts on several news items.
The enviro wack jobs are talking about the necessity to reduce the planet’s population, down to just one billion people. In other words, 84% of us have to die. Volunteers? I didn’t think so.
Just what do they propose to do with all the bodies?
I caught a brief gab fest on Fox News about Paris Hilton’s jail sentence. How unfair it was. You know, poor Paris being bullied because she’s famous. Never mind she blew off all the things she was ordered to do and not do.
45 days for driving drunk. Not enough, perhaps?
The Minneapolis paper that employs James Lileks as a columnist is demoting him to a news beat. I rarely read him, not my cup of tea, but he is clearly a remarkable talent and should be snapped up by somebody who will put that talent to good use. Replacing Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes? Replacing Art Buchwald?
I guess the Queen had a decent enough visit. She’s not very musical, unlike all the other queens England has sent us in the last forty years.
How often do you think about the people of the Gulf Coast these days? Lots of folks are still no better off than they were just after the hurricanes. Bunny is down there right now with a group from St. John Fisher College doing a little bit to help.
I guess I’m glad about the results of the French election for President. I just don’t understand what powers the President has over the parliment and the Prime Minister. Seems to me that without changes in that body, the election is much ado about nothing.
Time for a Sixth Republic.
I’m reading lots of good stuff about the milbloggers’ conference last week.
Deal or No Deal? What a stupid program. You have a 3% chance of picking the million dollar case. Once the deal gets over $100,000, take it.
The lovely wife points out that on all the CSI’s, in reality no professional woman would dress or be allowed to dress like they do. I vote for Emily Proctor as CSI babe.
We are a mere 69 dead terrorists away from the magic 4,000th terrorist killed since January 1, 2006. I’ll have a small celebration here when that happens. It should before the end of May.
In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been doing a lot of work in Sadr City in the last month or so. Terrorist cleanup, I mean. Several recent round ups of EFP importers and builders, too. Intel must be working overtime.
