“People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles,” British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. “Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home. This research helps inform people — let’s hope it has an effect.”

You can have my beer fridge when you pry it from my cold, drunken hands!

Squirrels Ate My Internet

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

It rained yesterday and I had no Internet. Time Warner told me the last time that I had them out that the squirrels love to eat the cable insulation. We had cable, but no Internet. That’s why I was invisible.

Pluto

What did George Bush know and when did he know it?

What efforts are bing made on behalf of the many refugees from Pluto created by this decision?

Shouldn’t NASA be disbanded? After all, they’ve operated for decades telling us that Pluto was a planet. NASA lied! Pluto died!

Those of us who supported Titan for planethood are shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Just goes to show that a bought and paid for astronomer doesn’t stay that way.

You Earthlings haven’t heard the end of this!

Pluto Kicked Out of Solar System

After a tumultuous week of clashing over the essence of the cosmos, the International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto of the planetary status it has held since its discovery in 1930. The new definition of what is — and isn’t — a planet fills a centuries-old black hole for scientists who have labored since Copernicus without one.

You realize, of course, that this means WAR!

Stupid Scientific Conclusions

Actually, why not?

Could be the beasts just didn’t find water up there or wanted to avoid injury. But the researchers calculate that the energy required to climb a hill could be a main factor. Climbing uphill for 100 yards would require a half-hour of foraging to replace the energy used.

“Clearly, climbing is something that an elephant should not do lightly, but should weigh very carefully,” the scientists conclude in the July 25 issue of the journal Current Biology.

The study was done by Fritz Vollrath of the University of Oxford along with Jake Wall and Iain Douglas-Hamilton of Save the Elephants.

The scientists say large animals probably view their surroundings much differently than smaller creatures.

I love that last sentance. These mooks got PAID to discover that. Why won’t anyone pay me to make major scientific discoveries?
