Blogger Killed in Iraq
Blogger Andrew Olmsted has been killed in Iraq. MNF-I The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Jan. 3 in As Sadiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit using small arms fire during combat operations. Predeceased by brothers, Herbert, Arthur, Charles, Harold, Raymond; and sister, Eva May. Robert and his father-in-law, Edward Haubner owned and operated the Haubner and Stallknecht Funeral Home for over 50 years, prior to his retirement in 1986. Crowe died early today at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He was 82. Crowe served as chairman from 1985 to 1989 under presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Hugo, 24, of Madison, Wis., died Oct. 5 in Bayji, Iraq, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked her unit using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. She was assigned to the 303rd Military Police Company, 97th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, U.S. Army Reserve, Jackson, Mich. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel The medic reached into her pocket and removed an Army honors coin she received for saving a sergeant’s life in Iraq in February. Democrat & Chronicle A U.S. Marine from Irondequoit, who family and friends described as a quiet but respectful young man, was killed yesterday while serving in Iraq. Cpl. Reynold Armand, 21, was killed yesterday in Fallujah, according to family members. Armand was a 2004 graduate of Eastridge High School in East Irondequoit Central School District, said school district spokeswoman Lee Steinfeldt.
