On September 3, 2007, President George W. Bush talks to Marines from Regimental Combat Team-2 (RCT-2) and Marine Wing Support Squadron-271 (MWSS-271), during a surprise visit to meet with Iraqi government officials and other American political figures to discuss the rebuilding efforts of Al Anbar province, Iraq. RCT-2 and MWSS-271 are deployed with Multi-National Forces-West in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Al Anbar to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms and continue the development of a market-based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
