Building a mushroom farm in Afghanistan

There is no truth to the rumor that all teaching was done by general officers, used to growing mushrooms. [Keeping them in the dark and feeding them bullshit]

The Mehtar Lam Research & Demonstration Farm is moving forward as the large pole-barn enters its final phase of construction this first week of February.

Laghman Agri-cultural Development Team advisors are mentoring Afghan apprentice carpenters. The carpenters installed the windows and walk-in doors last week and are currently putting the steel sheets over the exterior walls.

After completing the first week of horticulture training, the 51 female trainees received their first pay-check. Classes had a 100 percent attendance with consistent participation. During this week’s training, the female participants learned the basics of mushroom production.

Laghman ADT members also noted the progress of a fish farm under construction in Laghman’s Qarghayee district.
