KIRKUK, Iraq – At approximately 5:40 p.m., anti-Iraqi forces attacked a Coalition Forces’ manned outpost near Riyadh, Iraq on Jan.30. CF received rocket-propelled grenade fire from AIF and returned fire.
The AIF attempted to flee in a white bongo truck traveling toward the outpost. CF sent ground forces to engage the vehicle, destroying the truck and killing all five AIF.
A search of the vehicle produced two AK-47’s, five magazines, a cell phone and two identification cards.There were no CF casualties as a result of this incident.
