Behind the 300 Million

I’ve posted a number of photos from before 1940 in North Dakota as a web page, Days of Yore. Here’s one more:

Town Fathers Milnor ND

Left to right: Andrew Miller, Jens Olstad, Anders P. Stockstad

These are the town fathers of Milnor, North Dakota. If you ever wondered what the term meant, it’s these guys.

They came to North Dakota in the Fall of 1880, in covered wagons, and Anders [?] walked the whole way leading a cow. They came from Brown County, Minnesota.

I’m certain that they had to worry about Indians. It was a rough life back then, but they, and men like them, built America.
