A Fall Outing - 1961

My family with a friend out to gather black walnuts in Fall 1961

Dad knew where a stand of black walnut trees grew along a town road. we’d go out there in the Fall and gather them. The black stain was proof we had found some. I would crack them open with a hammer.

This is my friend Cindy, me with my eyes shut, my sister Martha and with the ever cheesy smile, my sister Marianna. Cindy is holding my hand. Even then, I was a catch.
