Armored Hummer Saves Marine

A wild story caught on film by CNN. The Marines is from near where I grew up. WIVB A Marine from the Southern Tier has quite a story to tell. Lance Corporal Jason Hunt cheated death when a car bomb exploded in Iraq. The big blast was caught on tape. It is an amazing act of heroism, caught on tape; a Western New York Marine on the front line of the fight for freedom in Iraq. To on-lookers it appears to be just an abandoned car, sitting idle just outside Fallujah. But to Marines, every abandoned car is a potential bomb. Western New York native, Marine Jason Hunt, was inside an armored humvee pushing the car out of the way when it happened. The force of the blast threw a CNN photographer traveling … Read entire article »

Can Glenn and Hugh Both Be Right?

Two biggies of the blogosphere are on opposite sides of the Terry Schiavo matter. Glenn Reynolds believes that the law which Congress passed violates the principles of federalism. He is a member of the faction that holds that libertarians and small government conservatives should find the actions of the local court and the repeated appeals that have been denied as the final word from the government. Hugh Hewitt, in this matter, is a social conservative. He believes that the government, at whatever level, should intervene in the matter. I am simplifying two complex arguments. The gist of it all is whether or not the actions of the Congress are compatible with conservative beliefs. Both are capable advocates for their positions. Who could be correct? More correct? Why, both, of course. Everything that I know of … Read entire article »

Dr. Berry Speaks Out

This guy was the subject of FBI raids last year, and I blogged about him several times. Wellsville Daily Reporter n his first interview since the national spotlight was pointed at Wellsville during the August anthrax investigation, Berry talked to The Daily Reporter about his current legal battles and the FBI. “(The FBI investigation) totally destroyed my life. I lost my reputation, my wife, my family, my son, my job … everything,” he said. The FBI has not said if it found any traces of anthrax, and it has not charged Berry in connection with anthrax. The FBI was in and out of Wellsville in one day. However, his wife, Tana, from whom he is now separated, said she was not surprised the FBI showed up at the door that Thursday morning. “He knew he was … Read entire article »
