Celebrating America

Dinesh D’Souza immigrated to America. After this act of faith, for immigration is the belief that things will be better, he became a success in his new home. And now he lays out what he celebrates about America, at SF Gate. Let me summarize the points themselves, then you go and read the fine prose that expands on them. America provides an amazingly good life for the ordinary guy. Rich people live well everywhere. But what distinguishes America is that it provides an impressively high standard of living for the “common man.” America offers more opportunity and social mobility than any other country, including the countries of Europe. America is the only country that has created a population of “self-made tycoons.” Work and trade are respectable in America. Historically most cultures have despised … Read entire article »

SEALS and GROM Seized Dam

Dodging a web of high-voltage power lines, Air Force special-operations helicopters hovered over the hydroelectric dam, 57 miles northeast of Baghdad, as crewmen kicked thick ropes out the doors. Under a moonless April night, dark figures quickly rappelled to the ground. Several dozen Navy SEALs and Polish Grom commandos split into small groups and sprinted to predetermined locations on Mukarayin Dam, an adjacent power station and several buildings. Within minutes, they located and held the dam’s watchmen and power-plant operators, but it would take hours to search the massive structure for explosives and potential saboteurs. San Diego Union-Tribune … Read entire article »

Supreme Court Strikes Down Texas Law

On the whole, I have to agree with the majority. If there is a right to privacy, and the Court holds that there is, then state laws regulating private sexual conduct between consenting adults are invalid. Joining Senator Santorum, however, I believe that today’s decision renders state criminal laws regulating adultery, polygamy, and incest also invalid, at least in part. However, Justice Thomas has a sensible point: I join Justice Scalia’s dissenting opinion. I write separately to note that the law before the Court today “is…uncommonly silly.” Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 US 479, 527 (1965) (Stewart, J., dissenting). If I were a member of the Texas Legislature, I would vote to repeal. Punishing someone for expressing his sexual preference through noncommercial consensual conduct with another adult does not appear to be a … Read entire article »

Jessica Lynch

OK, so the loony left criticisms of this story keep unraveling. Supposedly… the Iraqi doctors tried to return her to the Americans in an ambulance but were turned away. The latest revalation: The hospital staff also said that on the night of March 27, military officials prepared to kill Ms. Lynch by putting her in an ambulance and blowing it up with its occupants – blaming the atrocity on the Americans. The ambulance drivers balked at that idea. Eventually, the plan was changed so that a military officer would shoot Ms. Lynch and burn the ambulance. So Sabah Khazal, an ambulance driver, loaded her in the vehicle and drove off with a military officer assigned to execute her. “I asked him not to shoot Jessica,” Mr. Khazal said, “and he was afraid … Read entire article »

FRY THE SPY DAY – 8

and I’m throwing a party all day. Wow! Lot’s of people at the party. Even the Emperor and his entourage came. Those Danes can really par tay. Most everyone is dozing off from a day of drinking, fried foods, and mocking the dead. Did I mention mocking the dead? OK. I think we’re going to wrap up the celebration with a toast. Here’s to the millions of people who lived under Communism and never gave up. Here’s to the men and women who fought, in little or large ways, for their freedom and the freedom of others. Here’s to the Americans who died fighting the evil that was Communism. Here’s to Ronald Reagan, the conqueror of Communism. And, here’s to Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who sold out their country and died serving evil. May … Read entire article »

FRY THE SPY DAY – 7

Wing Nut Alert This is the program cover for the wing nut commemoration of the frying of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for spying for the Communists. Isn’t that special? Children of resistance. Let’s review for the feeble minded. Here are the spies: Here is the murderous dictator they spied for and took money from: Here’s what they helped him obtain: That’s pretty simple, isn’t it? Evil people work for bad man and give him things that go boom… … Read entire article »

FRY THE SPY DAY – 6

and I’m throwing a party all day. Michele has been sitting in the hammock, doing some reading. Indymedia seems to have caught her interest, since they seem to be busy ass kissing the very, very dead and fried Rosenbergs. She’s a better man than I. Reading Indymedia makes me crazy. Maybe I can coax her into the hot tub. More goodies have come out from the kitchen. Fried chicken, fried spam, and Julius’s personal favorite, BACON. Nature’s most perfect food, bacon. … Read entire article »

FRY THE SPY DAY – 5

Repeat: This post is so 2009! and I’m throwing a party all day. Well, we’ve been drinking for a couple of hours and the entertainment is pretty lame. Susan, Susan, Susan, there is such a thing as a bad BJ. Anyway, maybe we can come up with some games to play. Or, in honor of Julius and Ethel, we can just sit and get drunk watching the bug zapper do its thing. ZAP We could play “Truth or Dare”. Or “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”. Oh, oh, oh, I have it. We could play “The Price Is Right” for nuclear secrets. Bob, I think that U235 centrifuge is worth $150.” No Iranians or North Koreans can play, however. You’ve been naughty boys. Get your shots and go see Susan. … Read entire article »

FRY THE SPY DAY – 4

and I’m throwing a party all day. Pete Seeger will be playing his acoustic guitar and moaning passionately about trivia. Harry Belafonte will sing his one hit repeatedly. Susan Sarandon will do whatever she’s qualified to do. Hopefully using condoms. Here’s what the Rosenbergs gave to the Communists: … Read entire article »
