God and Country

The furor over the “Pledge” and the courts is tough. On the one hand, the Founding Fathers probably would never have imagined that anyone would ever question things like prayer in school or the Ten Commandments on a wall of a city hall. Separation of church and state to them meant that the national government would not also head a religion, such as exists in England to this day. So, in our electronic age, as we suspect that mere exposure to a subject influences the minds and thought of children, how do we separate church and state? For, logically, to a non believer, the word God has no more power than the word spaghetti. So, sentences that use the word God merely have a meaningless word in them. Something to Ponder

He has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Ever hear that expression? Not sure who it applies to, perhaps the Pope of the President of the USA. Anyway… Had a call for a female diabetic on Saturday morning. Came in to the house and found a very upset young man, late teens, and a pretty woman, who looked about 25. She was blank, sitting there with no expression, that stage of a diabetic problem just before unconsciousness. We began treatment, the paramedic gave her IV glucose, and she woke up. And, wide awake, she was a very pretty 43 yr old woman. The change in her face, lines, wrinkles, expression, was amazing to me.
